About This Item
New York, New York: Nafis & Cornish, c. 1840. Early printing. Hardcover. Fair. This copy, in difficult condition, is offered as a scarce original edition. A stereotype edition. Words only, published without music. 32mo., 4 1/2" tall, 238 pages (256 pages--when complete); leather binding. This is a fair copy only, with the endpapers, title page, and last 18 pages missing. The leather back strip and cover leather torn, all edges chipped, and the front cover is loose, the paper is relatively white due to high rag content, but the page margins are finger stained, some scattered foxing, and the binding shaken. Includes the Star Spangled Banner, Boys of Ohio, Hurrah for the Bonnets of Blue, The Girl I Left Behind Me, Auld Lang Syne, Home Sweet Home and many others of note. The publisher was determined by comparison of contents to complete editions. This copy would require restoration.
