About This Item
Philadelphia: American Alpine Club, 1907; 1911; 1914. 16, 19, 22 pp. Quarto. (34.2 X 27.2 cm.) 3 numbers (all published) Original printed dark green wrappers. First volume with a bit of chipping on the edges. The next 2 parts all in very nice condition. Part 1 with 5 plates and a folding map; Part 2 with 11 plates and a folding map and Part 3 with 11 plates and a folding map. Neate L29; F12, and B175. An interesting early series conceived of by the American Alpine Club. Each issue contains a single subject article, written by a single author. The first article is by Professor Joseph N. Le Conte and entitled "The High Sierra of California", second article is by Professor Charles E. Fay and entitled "The Canadian Rocky Mountains" and the third article is by Alfred H. Brooks and entitled "Mountain Exploration in Alaska" Each article is well illustrated and contains a nice folding maps at the rear. The series was short lived and do not seem to have survived perhaps due to the size and poorly made wrappers. Scarce these days especially as a nice complete set. 1907
