About This Item
London: The Trade Papers Publishing Co., Ltd., 1921. 2 vols., oblong 8vo, pp. [i], 22, [1]; [i], 22, [1] + 2 double-page colour plates. Original red (vol. 1) and green (vol. 2) paper wrappers printed in black. Somewhat soiled, corners creased, first and last leaves of vol. 1 stained. Wrappers creased, somewhat marked and shaken. A scarce set of lettering guides, showing some signs of use in the painting trade. The only other holding of both volumes in this edition that we have located is in Toronto, while the V&A and the Grolier have an undated version of the 2nd series (possibly copies bound without the wrapper); Oxford and the Grolier also hold this version of the first, while Leeds and the BL record a 1906 Manchester printing.
