About This Item
(Cape Town: Maskew Miller, 1928). Small 4to; original blue cloth, lettered in black on spine and upper cover; pp. (vi) + 182; plates. Extremities somewhat worn; binding a little slack; moderate foxing throughout. Good. (Hosken, p. 69) 'This little volume from the pen of Miss Dorothea Fairbridge gives in the form of a story the impressions of an English lady on a visit to Cape Town. Miss Fairbridge, who is the authoress of several other works on South Africa, has a gift for descriptive writing, and "Along Cape Roads" may be regarded as an informal "guide." It will be read with interest by visitors and by oversea friends who may contemplate a visit, and South Africans will appreciate the fullness of the authoress's knowledge of the parts of the country which she describes. The six illustrations are reproductions of etchings by Mr. R. Gwelo Goodman, and some ot them appear for the first time.' .
