London: Printed for John Bell, 1777. 12mo, pp. 92, [4] + engraved frontispiece. Modern plain black suede. Somewhat toned, some small dampmarks. A reprint of the adapted script for Jonson’s Alchemist, with the frontispiece featuring David Garrick as Abel Drugger, a role that helped launch his career. Garrick had retired from the stage in 1766, but stayed on to manage the theatre until 1776, returning to the stage that year for a series of farewell performances.

Established in 1957, McNaughtan's Bookshop is the oldest surviving secondhand and antiquarian bookshop in Scotland. Located in the basement of a listed 1820s tenement building at the top of Edinburgh's Leith Walk, we are the only open shop in Edinburgh holding membership of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association.
