Carpenter; with facsimiles of the original title page and frontispiece, and the addition of a preface, notes, appendices and illustrations by the editors. The supplementary material, a large part of it from first sources and hitherto unpublished, presented with this reprint, makes the new edition a more complete historical record of what happened in the Park. Late in the summer of 1877, Frank D. Carpenter, a member of and one of the organizers of the Radersburg party, chronicled the unhappy consequences of what happened when his tourism party met a band of Indians fleeing from pursuit by the United States Army. 320 pages, cloth covers being a gold like material, with silver lettering on the spine and front cover. First edition, thus, of this originally published in 1878 recounting conflict between Nez Perce Indians under Chief Joseph conflicting with two parties of Montana tourists in Yellowstone National Park during the Nez Perce War of 1877, while being pursued by Maj. Gen. O.O. Howard.
