About This Item

New York: Ivan Obolensky, Inc., 1961. Square, tight, unmarked copy. Pages are clean. Moderate foxing to endpapers and Dust Jacket else Very Good condition. No owner's name or bookplate. No remainder mark. From the Dust Jacket: "This fascinating story, which won the German Young People's Prize in 1958, was conceived by the author during a journey he made in 1957 when he set out on a thousand mile camel trek... in the central Sahara. He stayed with the Tamaschek tribe, whom many people call the Tuareg, and lived as they do on rice and rancid butter. This book is about these peoples. It is the story of Mid-e-mid, the wandering toubadour who falls in love with an outlaw... of Red Moon, the proud young prince of the desert, and High Summer, the beautiful daughter of the Marabut." . First Printing of the First US Edition. Hardcover. Very Good condition/VG DJ (price clipped). Illus. by Karlin, Eugene . 8vo. 218pp.

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines.
