Sir Peter Beckford (1740-1811), was an English peer famous as huntsman (as well as a miscellaneous writer), and the patron of the well-known Classical composer, pianist Muzio Clementi. Else a clean and tight copy. 321pp. plus 5pp adverts With engraved frontis and illustrations in text. A classic book on hunting in England, with hounds, for foxes, rabbits, and deer. Each chapter is a letter which details different aspects of fox and hare hunting etc covering kennels, scents, diseases, care and feeding of hounds, breeding and care of a hunter. First published in 1781 and reprinted many times, this edition fron 1820.
