About This Item
New York: McClure, Phillips, and Co., 1903. A rather scarce piece of Lincoln material. Photographic reproduction of a small notebook kept by Mr. Lincoln during the Campaign of 1858, with jottings in his own hand. It came into the possession of Captain James N. Brown, who added newspaper clippings to the notebook. In 1900, the book was sold by Brown's family to William Lambert, who at the time possessed the most complete Lincoln collection in exixtence. Forty-two pages of photo reproductions, followed by fifteen pages of explanatory notes by J. McCan Davis. We see reprints of this edition for sale and a recent sale of an original such as ours, by Bonham's in May 2023. . Second Impression. Full Thin Leather. Covers Worn/No Jacket. 5' x 3 1/4".
