IV, 24 pages of text then 28 pages of reproductions of aboriginal paintings, and after the illustration plates there is a fold out page, in three sections, dealing with the contents of the book and a bibliography, introduction by Charles P. Mountford. The text is illustrated with three black-and-white photographs and 28 coloured photographs, three which foldout, of various aboriginal rock art and traditional art on bark. Illustrated front cover, showing a reproduction of rock art with a white and brown background with black and red titles to the front panel and black to the backstrip. A little rubbing in scuffing to the book corners and edges. Slight yellowing of the background colour. Internally the book is clean, bright and tight. " This handsome volume of Australian cave and bark painting features and informative introduction by authority Charles P. Mountford, in which he shows how the art forms of the Aboriginal Australians -- living representatives of a Stone Age culture -- reflect their economic life, that troubled me, their nearly total isolation from alien cultures." -- from the rear book panel.
