SECOND EDITION with many additional photographs (Same format, same text, and same size as the first edition but with 61 more photos and new introduction by Doug Scott). Original black boards with silver lettering spine. The book is in fine, clean condition, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, no foxing, tight binding. The dust jacket is in fine condition with no tears, no chips, clean. The book measures 235mm tall x 155mm, and has 365 pages + [1], 82 photos, 16 maps & diagrams, index. "The most authoritative one-volume reference source on the historical & geographical background to the enti re Himalayan range [and Karakoram]." Mason took part in the mapping & field work, and throughout his life he passionately followed & researched all exploration. Particulary useful in sorting out the place names which have often been confused in the general literature. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.
