About This Item
(New York: The Center for Book Arts, 2006). First edition. One of 50 copies (each broadside with stated limitation of 100 however, according to Sarah Nicholls, Program Coordinator for the Center, only 50 were to be made). 12 letterpress-printed broadsides -- EACH ONE SIGNED BY THE POET -- in portfolio handmade by summer interns. Produced in honor of readings at the Center by established and emerging poets throughout the year. Portfolio measures 13 x 15" and closes as do shutters with turquoise ribbon looped through the covers and meeting in the middle for fastening with pale-green title card printed in red and turquoise attached. Covered in Mohawk paper pressure printed in pinks, green and purple, this intricate production is hinged at the sides and uses an interior fold to house the broadsides of various sizes, which are as follows: [untitled] by Patricia Carlin (4.7 x 14 x 5.5 x 14" rhomboid with left side intentionally flap folded); "Under Heaven" by Elisabeth Frost (13.25 x 12.25"); "Retarded Aero-smith World" by Sharon Mesmer(8.85 x 12.85"); "Carthage among School Children" by Baron Wormer (13.25 x 8.12"); "Hokusai Before the Painting" by Lynn Wagner, #40/100 ( 9 x 14"); "Poem for William J. Morehouse" by Jan Heller Levi, #91/100 (13 x 7.5"); "Having it Out" by Erica Ehrenberg (6 x 9"); "Five Words a Line, Six Lines a Stanza, Seven Years of My Life" by Sheila Maldonado (7.5 x 8"); "Here" by Grace Paley (12.5 x 12. 7"); "To Arielle and the Moon" by David Trinidad (11.5 x 12"); "Bear" by Karen Guthrie (9.75 x 12"); and "Nightengales" by Rachel Wetzsteon (10.6 x 12"). Includes printout of email to collector Allen K. Mears in which the Center's Sarah Nicholls discusses the limitation number. Portfolio and all 12 broadsides fine.
