The American Booksellers Association was founded in 1900 as a not-for-profit trade organization. It's members are independently owned brick and mortar bookstores. The ABA advocates for its members through education, information dissemination, business products and services, and advocacy. ABA not only seeks to protect and promote the interests of independent retail book businesses, but actively works to protect the First Amendment rights of every American. The ABA supports free speech, literacy, and promotes and supports independent bookstores. The American Booksellers Association maintains its headquarters in White Plains, New York. The association also hosts the annual ABA Convention in conjunction with BookExpo America each spring. To find out more about ABA visit their website at www.bookweb.org.
